Term 3 2013 Classes added.

Classes

We provide a varied number of classes to people of all skill levels, that are taught on our premises at Greensborough, Victoria. Below is the list of all the classes that we teach, along with date and time of the classes as they become known, and you can book or enquire about classes on-line.

Levels of Classes

  • Beginners classes require no experience at all.
  • Intermediate classes require some RTR experience (e.g. Celebration Cake or Beginners Fruitcake).
  • Advanced classes require all of the above plus.

A note about class fees

Class fees cover the cost of instruction only unless otherwise noted. All cake decorating classes require equipment specific to the particular medium which you are working in and a requirements list must be received so that you know what to bring. Homework is also a part of the classes as cakes need to be prepared before class. We do have a service to prepare cakes for you with 48 hours notice which can make things easier when life is busy.


Beginners Chocolate    UPDATED

Beginners Chocolate

The Beginners Chocolate class teaches a variety of skills that are necessary to working with chocolate. Students will learn to do a black forest cake complete with shop quality chocolate curls, a beautiful custard filled fruit flan surrounded by a chocolate collar, a chocolate box with a hand moulded chocolate rose filled with after dinner mints, a mud cake poured with chocolate with a chocolate bow and making a variety of other chocolates.

Wilton Cake Decorating Basics    UPDATED

In Wilton Cake Decorating Basics, you will learn how to make and colour buttercream icing and learn the best way to level, torte and ice the cake. You will learn to create icing drop flowers, rosettes, shells, pompom flowers, leaves, shaggy mums and the ribbon rose. In addition, piping gel pattern transfer, dimensional decorating and writing on a cake will be taught. The class finishes with the novelty tin of your choice which combines many of the techniques learnt and is a fabulous way to finish.

Wilton Flowers and Cake Design

In Wilton Flowers and Cake Design, you will explore sophisticated ways to bring your cakes and desserts to life. You will create beautiful icing flowers such as pansies, lilies and the famous Wilton rose. You will then discover the secrets to arranging them in a beautifully balanced cake-top bouquet. Your flowers will be framed by an impressive border or basketweave design. You will be shown how to make these blossoms step by step, including apple blossoms, daffodils, and violets and you will be creating spectacular bouquets that will be the talk of the party.

Wilton Gumpaste and Fondant    UPDATED

In Wilton Gumpaste and Fondant, your instructor will lead you to create an artful bow, chrysanthemum, rose, carnation, calla lily, rosebud, daisy and embellished borders. You will also learn the elements of fondant cake design and the correct way to cover a cake board with RTR icing as well as eyelet, ruffle and ball borders. The confidence you will gain as you decorate with gumpaste and fondant will enable you to create cakes that will add excitement to your family celebrations for years to come.
